Poetry, as Tanpınar himself has made it clear, is at the basis of all the literary genres he has written. In fact, according to the poet, all the stories and novels he wrote were born from a nucleus of poetry and came into existence from the idea of a poem. Therefore, Tanpınar always wanted to be known as a poet during his whole life. The concept of time is one of the founding themes of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’s deep design of his poems. The perception of time in the poet's poetry seems to be an ontological time in which the poetic subject is loaded with the desire to merge with the cosmos, beyond a mathematical time that can be divided into numbers and hours. In addition to literature and art, philosophy, especially the thoughts of Henri Bergson, had a great effect on Tanpınar's understanding of this time. According to the philosophical approach known as Intuitionism in Turkey, actual time in the origin of the human being isn't spatial or linear, it's an inner time (“durée"). According to Bergson, the consciousness of this inner time can only be reached with the philosophical intuition that the philosopher sees as the method of metaphysics. In this article, Tanpınar's understanding of poetry is discussed in the focus of Bergson's thoughts. In this article, firstly, a brief conceptual and theoretical framework on how time is understood in philosophy is tried to be drawn, and then how Bergson's understanding of time affects Tanpınar's perception of time is put forward. Lastly, in the light of Bergson's thoughts on time, Tanpınar’s poem was examined.
Zafer Demir ##submission.copyrightStatement## Tue, 31 Dec 2019 13:08:38 +0000 Human and moral problem in Nietzsche philosophy
The study aims to examine the stages of Nietzsche in the process of overman being and his understanding of freedom. Mainly Nietzsche’s predictions of moral metaphysics of Western metaphysics and critiques of Western metaphysics are considered. Nietzsche divides people as the weak, and the strong. He sees that the present moral system is Slave Morality constituted by the weak and contrasting that is the Master Morality composed of the strong with a will to power. Nietzsche dubs an individual who accepts traditional values without question a herd persona, and an individual who escapes herd mentality and starts questioning a freeman, an overman realizing himself and rebuilding his own values. To Nietzsche, realizing one’s self is not easy and is related to an individual’s will to power. According to Nietzsche, two idols of the 19th Century are Christianity and Modernism. Christianity associates absolute truth with faith in God, and Modernism with intellect and science. To Nietzsche, the shared feature of these two views that seem to be opposites is herd morality. According to Nietzsche, the depredation in human life caused by the traditional values of western metaphysics brought along a decadence. Nietzsche who does not see light at the end of the Western cultural tunnel, to see the light at the end of this dark tunnel. Western metaphysics and its reckoning with tradition is discussed in this study.
Mehmet Bayır ##submission.copyrightStatement## Tue, 31 Dec 2019 13:10:24 +0000 Reading pursuit of truth in Semih Kaplanoğlu cinema through “Grain”
Although reality and truth have been used in the same meaning, they have different meaning as philosophically. While reality has been defined as actual existences independent from the mind, truth has been defined as the reflection of the existences in the mind. It means that existence exists by disposing of their mystery and also means that human beings realize that. Pursuit of truth is essential not only in Cartesian Western Philosophy tradition but also the perspective of Sufi Philosophy. The pursuit of truth commonizes cinema with philosophy. Cinema deepens the questions which philosophy asks by proposing new questions. The pursuit and journey to reach the truth is the common point of art and cinema. This study, which aims to read the pursuit of truth in Semih Kaplanoğlu Cinema through the parallels of Tarkovski Cinema’s pursuit of truth, aims to do content analysis to Grain (2017) from this conceptual framework. As a result of these changes the emphasis on indigeneity brought different aspects of globalization up for discussion. A part of these discussions are related to who will decide; what parts of the indigenous will be recognized and what parts of it will be considered as other, to what degree the indigenous should be changed and to what the discourse of indigeneity corresponds. Nation states control the new cultures through these policies. Nation states are not only threatened by this outcome but also by the transnational organizations. But in the global age when the borders of nation states are exceeded, the transnational platforms re also managed by nation states. In a sense, the nation state that is threatened by globalization, is directing globalization in its favor since it has a control over the tools of globalization. These states attempt to solve the problems of migration that is one of the factors exceeding their borders in transnational platforms. This is because exceed of the borders give way to complex problems concerning more than one states and require their mutual decisions. Although European Union signed many mutual decisions, the problem has not been solved yet. This study focuses on the phenomenon of international migration that has taken a special form with globalization and on migration policies, applications and consequences that European Union developed as a reaction to globalization and this study also examines the reasons for why the problem continues.
Nigar Topcu ##submission.copyrightStatement## Tue, 31 Dec 2019 13:12:59 +0000 An empirical study on the use of mobile knowledge competitions: the example of the Hadi knowledge competition
Applications that start to enter our lives with smart devices increase the time we devote to our smart devices and make users almost dependent. The mobile applications offered by smart mobile devices to the users cause individuals to become more dependent on these devices. Although mobile applications are not considered new, it will not be wrong to say that there is not enough work on this subject. It should be noted that currently studies focus more on social media applications, and there are not enough studies about other applications. Therefore, with this research, it is aimed to eliminate this deficiency to some extent and to give ideas to those who want to work on the subject. In this article, the point where application and competition intersect is discussed and Hadi Knowledge Contest which presents itself as a monetization application is taken as a sample. In this study, a 5-point Likert-type questionnaire was applied. The concepts of game, competition and practice were opened to discussion and the philosophical aspects were examined. In this study, which is based on the theory of uses and gratifications, the subject is approached with the question “What do people do with this competition?”. Within the scope of the research, the purpose of this application and the expectations of the users from this competition were tried to be observed and the validity of the hypotheses determined was opened to discussion.
Muhammet Emin İğde ##submission.copyrightStatement## Tue, 31 Dec 2019 00:00:00 +0000
